Sajek valley (সাজেক ভ্যালি) is famous for its exotic natural beauty. It is known as the Queen of Hills and the Roof of Rangamati. This valley is located on the northernmost Mizoram border (মিজোরাম সীমান্তে) in the middle of the mountains of Kasalong range (কাসালং রেঞ্জ) in Sajek union, Baghaichhari Upazila in Rangamati District. Interesting point is Rangamati is the largest district, Baghaichhari is the largest upazila and Sajek is the largest union in Bangladesh. Its area is 702 square miles. Sajek is surrounded on the north by Tripura in India, on the south by Langadu in Rangamati, on the east by Mizoram in India, and on the west by Dighinala in Khagrachari. Although Sajek is located in Rangamati district, visitors have to go to the Sajek by road via Dighinala (দীঘিনালা) in Khagrachhari.

The main tourism center of Khagrachari is Alutila Tourist Center. Here we have Alutila cave, watch tower and Alutila Tarang. Alutila Mysterious Cave (আলুটিলা গুহা) is located in Matiranga Upazila, Khagrachari. The cave formed inside the 1000-meter-high hill named Alutila or Arbari Hill. The hill area is surrounded by deep green forest. The cave is 100 meters long. It has a natural subway-like shape with cold water flowing at bottom. The cave is so dark that torches or locally sold flambeaux are used to see well enough to walk around the cave. From Alutila Tarang you can also see the whole Khagrachari city, it’s a beautiful view. After visiting Alutila cave we went to Horticulture Park. It's a nice place to pass the afternoon. There are some beautiful restaurants for the visitors. Lot's of people come there for evening walk and site seeing. We went there at the evening, took some light food and return to our hotel.

Day 2: Khagrachhari to Sajek
Staring from Khagrachhari, crossing Dighinala (দীঘিনালা) you will reach Baghaihat Bazar (বাঘাইহাট). All the tourist must report in Baghaihat Army camp. From baghaihat visitors get the original permission to go to Sajek and army vehicle will escort all the tourist vehicles to Sajek. This escort moves everyday 10 am and 3 pm. On the way to Sajek you will see the meeting place of the two river Kasalong and Gangaram. Passing Baghaihat camp there is a another place called Gangaram face where Masalong and Gangaram river joins with the Kasalong River. This Kasalong river goes to Kaptai lake and meets with Karnafuli. One can enjoy the beauty of this river standing on the concrete bridge. The road to Sajek from Khagrachari is one of the most beautiful road in Bangladesh. On the way, the people of small ethnic groups will be seen on both sides. Their houses built specifically on bamboo panels. Later comes Tiger Tila Army Post and Masalang Bazar (মাসালং বাজার). After crossing the market, you will see Ruilui Para, the first village of Sajek. The height of this village is approximately 1800 feet from the sea level. The oldest population of Ruilui Para (রুইলুই পাড়া) is Lusai (লুসাই). Pankua and Tripura (পাংকুয়া ও ত্রিপুরা) also live there. This village was established in 1885. Its head man is Lal Thanga Lusai (লাল থাংগা লুসাই). At the end of Sajek is Kanglak Hill. Kanglak Para (কংলক পাড়া) laid on top of it. Most of the villagers of Sajek are Tripura and Lusai. Its head man is Chaumingthai Lusai (চৌমিংথাই লুসাই). The Lusai Hills of India can be seen from Kanlak Para. From where the river Karnafuli originated.

The valley is surrounded by mountains, dense forest, grasslands hilly tracks and clouds. I is the place where you can stay above the cloud. It looks like an island in the middle of the cloud.

The long waited day has come and we are ready to see the sunrise. As planned we woke up around 5 am. It was a cold morning as a result everyone took time to came out. Below picture was the first look of sunrise from our resort. Because of low light it shows only 5% of the real beauty. An unique combination of first sunlight in a cold weather, hills and clouds makes us feel like heaven.

It's easy to go down but very hard to came back. During return you can use local motorbikes. It's risky to use bikes, sometimes people fall down but there is no other choice except walk back.
